New Hope has kindy kids covered

Kids at the C&K Oakey Community Preschool and Kindergarten are now enjoying an outdoor play area in shaded comfort, thanks to a donation from the New Hope Group.
New Hope covered the cost of a shade sail over the kindy’s new outdoor theatre area.
“This new shaded area is now used constantly by the kids,” the kindy’s teacher and director Janette Quince said.
“The shade sail allows us to use the stage area for performances and also as a meeting area, so it has made it a lot more versatile and a much better use of our resources.
“We couldn’t have done this without New Hope’s help, so we are very, very grateful.”
Ms Quince said before the shade sail was built, the outdoor theatre area was not being fully utilised.
“The sail has made the area a lot more usable and it lets us get outdoors a lot more. It is used daily,” she said.
“The addition of the shade sail over this space has assisted in our overall sun smart strategy as it provides important sun protection for the children while they take part in outdoor play.
“The theatre area is used in many ways. It is a space for children to dance, create puppet shows, and take part in dress-ups and imaginary play.
“The platform and stage area can also be used for floor activities such as building block and construction play, so it is an important part of our outdoor learning program.”
The community-based kindergarten is part of the Creche and Kindergarten Association Limited (C&K), a not for profit organisation that has offered early childhood education and care since 1907.
Ms Quince said all money raised by the kindy was put back into running it.
